Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie (originally Angelina Jolie Voight) is an American actress and director, most well-known for her sexual edginess, sex appeal, and humanitarian work. She was awarded an Academy Award for her supporting role as a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent much of her childhood in New York before relocating to Los Angeles at age 11. After being at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute two years ago, she attended Beverly Hills High School. New York University later taught her drama. In addition to appearing in theater productions, she also was a model and featured in music videos.Jolie's first film-related role was in Hackers (1995) in the filming process, she had her first marriage with British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996 divorced in 1999). The film did not find an audience, just as did a series of subsequent movies. Jolie, who played the role of the Alabama governor's wife who is segregationist was the subject of much interest in 1997. The following year, she was awarded the Golden Globe Award. Jolie played a supermodel suffering from addiction to drugs in the HBO movie Gia in 1999. The performance won her numerous honours including an award of the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. Following her Oscar-winning performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie was in Pushing Tin, a comedy with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and in 2003 she was divorced. She was the girlfriend of an armed carjacker (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) and later changed her accent to the British accent and mastered the art of street fighting and kickboxing for the roles of the title in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003). She played the role of Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) and starred alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set in 1930s New York City). Both films were unsuccessful at the box office, however Jolie had a great time with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife, pretending to be an assassin. While making the film, she became acquainted with Brad Pitt who became her co-star.
